Gary Beasley, President & Chief Executive Officer


Gary first became involved at Waypoint as an investor and advisory board member in early 2009, eventually joining full-time as a managing director in December 2011 and becoming President and CEO in January 2013.

Prior to joining Waypoint, Gary served as both an operating executive and principal investor across a wide range of industries including hospitality, real estate, consumer Internet, and clean tech. After helping orchestrate Geolo Capital’s controlling investment into Joie de Vivre Hospitality in mid-2010, Gary served as JDV’s interim CEO until the company’s merger with Thompson Hotels in October 2011. Prior to joining Geolo Capital in the fall of 2009, he served as President and CEO of GreenVolts, an award-winning solar technology start-up.

Between 2001 and 2007 Gary was an operating executive with ZipRealty, where as its CFO he led the innovative Internet-based residential brokerage through its successful IPO before eventually being named its President. Gary also spent seven years with KSL Resorts, where he was instrumental in acquiring and integrating over $800 MM of hotel and resort properties. Earlier in his career, Gary worked for leading real estate industry firms LaSalle Partners and Security Capital Group.

Gary holds a B.A. in Economics from Northwestern University and an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Nina Tran, Chief Financial Officer


Nina Tran leads Waypoint’s finance and accounting functions. Prior to joining Waypoint, Nina spent 17 years at AMB Property Corporation (now Prologis, Inc.), one of the leading global public REITs. Nina served as senior vice president, chief accounting officer, and most recently as chief global process officer, where she helped lead the merger integration between AMB and Prologis. In her CAO role, Nina oversaw all aspects of global accounting and reporting, including SEC filings and joint venture/fund reporting. Before AMB, Nina was a senior associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the big 4 public accounting firms.

Nina attended U.C. Davis and California State University, Hayward, where she earned her B.A. in Business Administration, with concentration in Accounting and Information Systems. She is also a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program for Women Leaders. Nina is a Certified Public Accountant.

Scott Gable, Chief Operating Officer


Scott Gable leads Waypoint Real Estate Group's acquisition, construction, leasing, and property management operations.

Scott brings over 24 years of hands-on operations, business management, and planning experience to his role at Waypoint. He has worked with small, mid-sized and large companies at all stages of development, including 11 years with Wells Fargo where he served as EVP of the Home and Consumer Finance Group running a 5,000 person real estate underwriting, processing, servicing and collections organization. He has served as Chief Operating Officer for Hercules Technology Growth Capital, head of bank operations for United Commercial Bank, a principal with Booz*Allen and Hamilton, and as a consultant to the UK government on their mortgage rescue programs. Scott has built and led sales teams, developed new products and marketing programs, and has extensive experience in applying technology solutions and process improvement to enable organizations to scale their growth.

Scott holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an AB in International Relations from Stanford University.

Ali Nazar, Chief Technology Officer


Ali Nazar is responsible for the development of Waypoint’s information technology systems. Ali develops business processes throughout the company and enables them through cloud technologies provided by Salesforce.com and Google.

Prior to joining our team, Ali was co-founder of SalesTeamLive, a marketing and technology services company he helped start in 2004. SalesTeamLive’s core mission was to automate the business of real estate investing, and Ali was directly responsible for building the technology and services infrastructure to deliver on that vision. The company doubled in size every year, eventually supporting over 1,000 real estate investors across the United States. The cloud-based platform Ali built still generates tens of thousands of targeted marketing leads every month, across a wide variety of real estate investment strategies.

Before co-founding SalesTeamLive, Ali spent 6 years at Digital Island / Cable and Wireless, a network and hosting infrastructure company that helped to shape the backbone of the internet. Ali was one of the original employees, starting as a web programmer and eventually becoming Director of Product Management as the company grew to 2,000 employees and a successful IPO. Ali was instrumental in defining the process and systems excellence that helped the company handle its explosive growth.

Ali holds a B.S. in Mathematics from U.C. Davis.

Tamra Browne, Chief Legal Officer


Tamra is Waypoint’s chief legal officer. Prior to joining Waypoint, Tamra was senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of AMB Property Corporation (now Prologis, Inc.), a multinational industrial REIT. Before that she was an attorney with Morrison and Foerster LLP, providing counsel to clients on public and private securities issuances, initial public offerings, and mergers and acquisitions, and with Reid & Priest, where she worked on a variety corporate finance issues.

Tamra holds a B.A. in Geology from Middlebury College and a J.D. from Stanford Law School. She serves on the board of Pets Unlimited, a non-profit organization.

Bryan Bailey, Vice President of New Markets


Bryan directs the establishment of Waypoint’s market development operations in expansion markets across the United States. Prior to his role as Vice President of New Markets, Bryan was Waypoint’s Director of Due Diligence, overseeing the underwriting team, and leading in the improvement, implementation, and adherence to company risk management systems and controls.

Bryan has over 15 years of experience in real estate finance, operations, relationship management, and general investment management. Prior to Waypoint, Bryan was a Principal at Alliance Capital, a financial services firm, where he built the company infrastructure and monitored all facets of daily operations. Bryan also worked with Meritage Group LP, a 40-person investment advisory firm with $8 billion in assets under management, and CapitalSource Finance, where he was responsible for underwriting and assisting in the closing of highly-structured bridge, construction, and land loans over a wide range of real estate asset classes. Before starting his career in real estate, Bryan served as a Petty Officer in the US Navy.

Bryan graduated from UC Berkeley and earned an MBA from the University of Oxford.

Noël Bejarano, Vice President of Portfolio Development


Noël is responsible for the composition of Waypoint's national portfolio and ensuring that it meets investor requirements, along with the company's underwritten expectations. Prior to transitioning into his current role, Noël built and led Waypoint's acquisitions efforts.

Before joining Waypoint, Noël was Vice President of Ridgeback Partners, an investment management firm formed in 2007 to pursue distressed residential opportunities. He was previously Acquisitions Originator for Hearthstone, the largest institutional investment manager dedicated to the residential building industry. At Ridgeback and Hearthstone, he was responsible for deal origination and relationship management for single family, multifamily, and mixed use residential investments. Noël has acquired in excess of 50,000 completed or planned residential units in major markets across the United States.

Before joining Hearthstone, Noël worked at Cherokee Investment Partners, a socially responsible real estate firm devoted to acquiring, remediating, and returning environmentally impaired assets (“brownfields”) to productive use. Prior to Cherokee, Noël worked in the investment management division of Goldman Sachs. He also served eight years as an officer in the US Army and National Guard.

Noël attended Harvard College on a military scholarship and earned an MBA (with concentration in real estate) from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.

John Farias, Vice President, Controller - Financial Reporting


John leads Waypoint Homes’ financial reporting efforts.

Prior to joining the Waypoint team, John served two stints at Prologis, Inc. (formerly AMB Property Corporation). John originally joined AMB Property Corporation in 1996, working in the finance and accounting group in various roles through 2005 including vice president, controller, responsible for all public and private external reporting. After a time with the real estate investment banking group at Credit Suisse, John rejoined AMB in 2006; his last role, following the merger with Prologis, was as vice president, fund operations. John’s early career includes several years as an auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

John holds Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto, Canada and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley. He is a former California Certified Public Accountant.

Beth Haiken, Vice President of Corporate Citizenship & Communications


Beth leads Waypoint’s corporate social responsibility initiatives as well as internal and external communications and human resources.

Prior to joining Waypoint, Beth was a senior vice president at Ogilvy Public Relations, where she served as senior counselor to a number of national brands. Before that, she lead global communications for The PMI Group, Inc., a mortgage insurance and credit enhancement company in the Bay Area. She joined PMI from Providian Financial in San Francisco. In her first career, Beth taught American History at the University of British Columbia and the University of Tennessee.

Beth holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley, a master’s degree from Harvard University and a doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley. She is the author of Venus Envy: A History of Cosmetic Surgery and lives in the East Bay.

Elizabeth Holmes, Vice President of Private Capital


Elizabeth Holmes is responsible for Waypoint’s private capital. She supports the firm's fundraising, business development and financial strategy projects. Elizabeth manages communications and satisfies reporting requirements. She also structures entities and executes Advisory Board projects.

Prior to joining Waypoint, Elizabeth participated in Marcus & Millichap’s Venture Associates program, through which she earned an Associate position at Sovereign Investment Company, a real estate private equity investment and advisory firm. At Sovereign, Elizabeth analyzed portfolios, participated in the execution of $35 million in dispositions, and assisted with investment management. She collaborated on business development focused on strategic advisory services. Before joining Marcus & Millichap, and while earning her J.D./M.B.A., Elizabeth completed internships in both investment banking at Goldman Sachs, and corporate law at Jones Vargas.

Elizabeth graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and earned a J.D/M.B.A. from UCLA, with a Certification in Business Law and concentration in finance.

Maitri Johnson, Vice President of Property Management


Maitri is responsible for the asset protection, leasing, Financial Fitness, resident relations and collections functions across Waypoint’s national footprint.

Prior to joining Waypoint, Maitri spent 26 years in the multi-family industry and most recently held the position of Executive Vice President of Property Services with Riverstone Residential Group, the nation’s third-largest property management company. Maitri’s experience covers all product types including student and affordable housing. She has been actively involved with the National Multi Housing Council, National Apartment Association and National Apartment Association Education Institute, serving on both Boards and President of the Education Institute.

Maitri studied Journalism at the University of London.

Joe Maehler, Vice President of Acquisitions


Joe directs the acquisition and disposition efforts of Waypoint and is responsible for the identification, evaluation, and execution of new investments by the firm and its strategic partners. Prior to transitioning into this role Joe spearheaded Waypoint's initial expansion into Southern California, acquiring more than 650 homes.

Joe brings over 10 years of real estate investment and management experience to his role at Waypoint. Formerly a Vice President at Buchanan Street Partners, a West Coast based commercial real estate investment manager, Joe worked in both advisory and principal investment platforms of the company having participated directly in the capitalization of over $5 billion in commercial real estate assets. Specifically Joe focused on structured finance working on complex debt and equity transactions.

During his tenure at Buchanan Street Joe worked on all commercial real estate product types with an emphasis on multi-family and self storage. While at Buchanan Street Joe earned the Rookie of the Year Award and the Rain Maker award. Joe has active involvement in the NAIOP Young Leaders forum which is a privately selected forum for promising real estate professionals.

Joe holds a B.S. degree in Managerial Economics from UC Davis.

Scott Menard, Vice President of Construction


Scott leads Waypoint’s construction team, managing all aspects of construction, including all purchasing, planning, and contracting activities.

Scott has more than 23 years of experience in the construction and management of single family homes. Prior to joining Waypoint, Scott was President of Arbor Development Group, a privately held real estate development company. Prior to that, he was the Chief Operating Officer for SummerHill Homes and the Division President of Taylor Woodrow Homes in Northern California. Scott has also worked for several of the nation’s most well-known home builders, including Ryland Homes and KB Home. Throughout his career, he has built more than 4,000 homes throughout California and the western United States.

Scott holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and a certificate in construction management from San Jose State University. While at Taylor Woodrow Homes, he completed an Executive Development program at Cranfield School of Management at Cranfield University in the U.K. Scott has served on the East Bay Advisory Board of Junior Achievement of Northern California since 2008 and currently serves as Board Chair.

Aaron Stevens, Vice President of Finance & Asset Management


Aaron leads Waypoint’s real estate fund management team. Before joining Waypoint, Aaron co-founded The Acadian Group, a New York-based financial technology firm. Prior to Acadian, Aaron spent 11 years with Related Capital Company, a New York-based real estate investment firm, where he held positions in real estate development, acquisitions and capital management. During his tenure with Related Capital, Aaron led an acquisition group and managed the acquisition and structuring of more than 125 real estate transactions with a total value of $1.6 billion. Aaron also managed the firm’s $10 billion portfolio of private real estate funds.

Aaron received a BS with honors and distinction from Iowa State University and an MBA with honors from Columbia Business School.

Bob Yakominich, Vice President of Sales & Marketing


Bob leads Waypoint’s sales and marketing efforts.

Bob brings years of leadership experience in internet marketing, account management, and revenue growth.

Prior to joining the Waypoint team, Bob was senior vice president of sales with Zip Realty, a pioneer in online real estate sales and marketing. Before joining Zip Realty Bob led sales at The Reiser Group, which provides sales and marketing solutions to the home building industry. As executive vice president of sales for Citysearch, Bob led the company’s successful efforts to expand its online advertising model into the real estate space. Prior to Citysearch Bob spent 13 years with the American Express Company, where he held a variety of direct sales and sales leadership roles.

Bob holds a BA in Business Administration from Bernard Baruch College and an MBA from the University of San Francisco.

Andrew Silverman, Regional Vice President – West


Andrew Silverman is the Regional Vice President of Waypoint’s west coast portfolio. He is responsible for the performance, operation and management of all of Waypoint’s western markets.

Andrew contributes more than 20 years of experience in real estate development and asset management, including project management, financing and strategic planning for a national portfolio of residential, commercial, and industrial properties. He focuses on entrepreneurial companies developing new platforms within the real estate and construction markets. Previously with ZETA Communities, Community Builders, Webvan, and Constructa, he has completed $250 million in residential and mixed-use development, with a focus on sustainable communities.

Andrew holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematical Economics from Colgate University and is a licensed general contractor and real estate salesperson.

Charles Young, Regional Vice President – East


Charles Young is Regional Vice President for Waypoint's eastern portfolio and brings 17 years of real estate development, investment and management experience to this role.

Prior to joining Waypoint, Charles was an Executive Vice President at Mesa Development, a national real estate developer, investor and service provider with a focus on complex mixed-use residential opportunities. Prior to Mesa, Charles worked for Goldman, Sachs and Company in their Real Estate Principal Investment Area (Whitehall) and Goldman’s Investment Banking Division, in Mergers and Acquisitions. Charles also created and managed two entrepreneurial ventures: he co-founded and was a Managing Director of The Kaleidoscope Group, L.L.C., a strategic diversity and management consulting firm and he managed K.G. Holdings, LLC a real estate holding and management firm.

Charles holds an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business and an A.B. in Economics from Stanford University, where he played football. After college, Charles spent several years as a professional football player in the National Football League (NFL) and the World Football League (WFL). He is a member of Stanford’s Athletic Board and a Board member of SPARK.

Brad Chelton, Regional Director – Phoenix


Brad Chelton is the Regional Director of Waypoint’s Phoenix Office. He is responsible for the performance, operation and management of Waypoint’s Arizona portfolio.

Brad brings over 12 years of real estate development, investment and management experience to his role at Waypoint. Prior to joining Waypoint, Brad began his career as a civil engineer in Phoenix focusing on the land development sector. He then joined Engle Homes where he was instrumental in the vision, design, construction and operation of Province @ Maricopa, an active adult community, among others. He left Engle in 2005 to start his own firm focused on delivering real estate advisory solutions to owners with a focus on infrastructure and entitlement issues.

Brad holds a B. S. in Civil Engineering from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and is a member of Urban Land Institute (ULI).

Andrew Ginsburg, Regional Director - South Florida


Andrew Ginsburg is a regional director for Waypoint Homes.

Andrew brings more than 10 years of experience in residential and commercial real estate development, private equity and venture capital investment, and property management. Prior to joining Waypoint, Andrew was CEO of Down East Management Associates, a portfolio property acquisition, management, disposition, and financing firm, and before that he served as regional vice president for The Lynd Company, managing industrial, retail, commercial, and residential properties.

Andrew holds a BIS in Business Management and Urban Planning/Design from Arizona State University and an MPS in Real Estate Finance from Cornell University.

James Landers, Regional Director - Central Florida


James Landers is a regional director for Waypoint Homes.

Prior to joining Waypoint, James was the Managing Partner of High Point Development, a leading regional urban infill developer and general contractor focusing on mixed used and complex residential infill opportunities. During his tenure at High Point, James managed the full development process and delivery of over 40 projects valued in excess of $500 million. Prior to his role with High Point, James held senior management roles with High Point Development and NCR Corporation in addition to various consulting roles to other organizations. James also in responsible for several successful entrepreneurial ventures including Total Event Solutions, a full service technology event management firm.

James holds a BS in Finance from the University of South Florida. He is the founder of the Youth Sports Foundation in Saint Petersburg responsible for creating equality of opportunity in youth sports in the region.

Marco Vartanian, Regional Director – Inland Empire


Marco Vartanian is the Regional Director of Waypoint’s Inland Empire portfolio, responsible for the performance, operation and management of Waypoint’s second largest market.

Marco brings over 12 years of Southern California real estate expertise to Waypoint. Prior to joining Waypoint, Marco was vice president of Asset Management at Buchanan Street Partners, where he managed a portfolio of real estate assets that included industrial, office, retail, and apartment buildings across the Western U.S. He brings additional experience from Maguire Properties, Cushman Wakefield.

Marco holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business. He is an active member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and in 2007 received the organization’s Developing Leader Award.

Scott Word, Regional Director – Southern California


Scott Word is a Regional Director in the Southern California Office of Waypoint, where he is spearheading the Waypoint expansion into the greater Los Angeles area to acquire new properties and strategically expand the Waypoint “footprint” into the Los Angeles region.

Scott has more than 23 years of diverse real estate investment, and management experience. Formerly, a Founder and Managing Partner of Genesis Realty Partners, LLC, a Los Angeles based real estate investment company that focused on the acquisition, renovation and sale of distressed single and multifamily assets. Prior to founding Genesis, Scott was a Managing Director/Market Officer for Legacy Partners Commercial. In this capacity, he was responsible for principal investing activities of Legacy in the Los Angeles region where he acquired a “value add” commercial asset portfolio totaling in excess of 4.0 million square feet worth over $1.1 Billion. Scott was instrumental in the Southern California expansion for the Legacy funds that owned and operated a West Coast portfolio encompassing over 17 million square feet of commercial real estate with an acquisition basis in excess of $4.0 Billion.

Scott holds a B.S from the University of Oklahoma in Finance.

David Zanaty, Regional Director – Atlanta


David Zanaty is a Regional Director for Waypoint and brings 15 years of real estate investment and development experience to this role.

Prior to joining Waypoint, David was a Vice President of Development at AIG Global Real Estate, an international investment and development company, where he was responsible for the development and asset management of a variety of assets, including 900,000 square feet of LEED Gold Certified Class A office space. Before joining AIG Global Real Estate, David focused on principal and third-party development, debt and equity placement, and investment property sales and acquisitions. David began his career with CB Richard Ellis, where he performed a variety of financial analyses for all product types in every stage of the asset lifecycle.

David holds a B.A. in Economics and Philosophy from Emory University, a Master of City and Regional Planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. David is active in a number of organizations, including the Urban Land Institute and NAIOP, the commercial real estate development association.
